![]() ![]() I particularly don’t appreciate the use of the “perverted lesbian” archetype when it comes to Katsuragi’s breast fondling, since it implies that it’s okay to violate someone’s body so long as you’re both women. ( Fullmetal Panic? Fumoffu and the -Monogatari series are good examples of “tasteful” fanservice.) But when it’s rape-y or exploits a minority, that’s when its starts to get problematic – and Senran Kagura falls into that territory too often. With the right context and comedic timing, fanservice can certainly be used as a legitimate form of comedy. There are only three reasons you would ever watch Senran Kagura: The comedy, the campy ninja action, and the fanservice – whether for its comedic purposes or its ability to sexually stimulate you. I can’t factor in how arousing the show is into these reviews (whatever floats your boat, right?) and it’s still too soon to judge how good the action will be, but I can say that this show certainly fails as a comedy.
